Drop PDF files here, or click to browse
.PDF · up to 50 MB each
2 · CONVERT
Your PDF is rebuilt as PDF/A-2b on our server by LibreOffice and deleted the moment the result is sent back to you. Simple documents convert cleanly; very complex layouts can shift slightly, so check the result before filing it.
Add files, then convert.
What this tool does
PDF/A is a stricter form of PDF made for archiving: every font is embedded, colours are defined and nothing depends on outside resources, so the file will display the same way decades from now. Many courts, tax offices and document portals require it.
How it works
- Upload one or more PDFs.
- Press Convert — each file is rebuilt as PDF/A-2b.
- Download the archival PDFs one by one or as a ZIP.
Example: A court e-filing portal rejects "Affidavit.pdf" as "not PDF/A" — upload it here, convert, and submit "Affidavit-pdfa.pdf", which carries the PDF/A-2b identification and embedded fonts the portal checks for.
Yes. The pdf to pdf/a is completely free, with no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many times you use it.
No installation is needed — it runs entirely in your browser, on desktop or mobile, and works the same way on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
It accepts standard PDF files and produces PDF/A-2b (ISO 19005-2), the version most archives, courts and government portals ask for. Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first.
Yes — this conversion needs a full office engine, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, converted by LibreOffice, and deleted the moment the PDF is returned. Nothing is stored, shared, or used for anything else.
Yes — "pdf to pdf/a" and "pdf/a converter" describe the same task. This page is built to handle that search directly, without redirecting you elsewhere.
